JAKARTA - The Indonesian people have been busy rejecting the increase in VAT of 12 percent. Starting from students, women, traders and Humaniesproject volunteers demonstrating in front of the State Palace, December 19, 2024. The public objected to the increase in VAT which covered almost all aspects of life. The increase in VAT is considered to reduce purchasing power because the price of goods that also rose. The decline in purchasing power could hinder economic growth. The question is, will the government continue to increase VAT even though residents refuse?
