JAKARTA - Minister of Public Works and Public Housing (PUPR) Basuki Hadimuljono said the construction of a duplication of the Nilo River Bridge in Pelalawan, Riau, will improve connectivity and facilitate logistics on the Riau Province East Cross Road which is connected to Jambi Province.

"We really need to carry out this duplication construction of the Nilo River Bridge in order to avoid a disaster or potential disaster, because it cannot accommodate the tonnage of vehicles that pass through the old bridge. The bridge construction was carried out by contractors PT Spirit Hasrat Jaya-PT Tata Inti Sepakat (KSO) and PT Dhanesmantara Consultant-PT Epadascon Permata-PT Raissa Gemilang, KSO as the Supervising Consultant.

The construction of the Nilo bridge is next to the old bridge, which was funded by State Sharia Securities (SBSN) with a budget of Rp. 98.6 billion.
