BALIKPAPAN - PT Kutai Refinery Nusantara (KRN) exported 7,000 tons of palm kernel expeller (PKE) or palm kernel waste to South Korea (South Korea).

"The export of PKE which is a mixture of animal feed ingredients to South Korea is worth Rp. 22 billion," said Head of Social Security and License Apical Group, M Jaya Budiarsa, quoted from Antara, Friday, May 27.

After going to South Korea, PT KRN will also prepare exports to several countries that need palm kernel waste.

KRN is known as a crude palm oil (CPO) processor.

The factory facilities are located north of the City of Oil, on the shores of Balikpapan Bay, not far from the Kariangau Container Port and the PLTU.

According to Budiarsa, this export will also be faster because it is supported by the Gratieks program by the Ministry of Agriculture, a program run by the Balikpapan Agricultural Quarantine.

He added that his party is currently also preparing other products for export.

"We from the Balikpapan Agricultural Quarantine strongly support the export of this PKE commodity, because it is in line with the Ministry of Agriculture program, namely the triple export movement (gratieks)," said the Sub-Coordinator of Substance Supervision and Enforcement of the Agricultural Quarantine Center Niken Pandan Sari on the same occasion.

The form of support from the Quarantine Center is to ensure that the commodity is free of pests and diseases, whether in the form of insects, fungi, or others until they are carried to the destination country.

For this reason, this PKE was given a fumigation measure to be free from mold or mildew.

After being re-examined and can be declared passed, then for the export goods a plant health certificate will be issued (phytosanitary certificate).

With this certificate, it is certain that the commodity will easily pass the quarantine inspection of the destination country.

On the other hand, this initial export seemed to welcome the re-opening of exports of CPO and various other palm products by the Government after being banned for almost a month.
