JAKARTA - The producer of bottled water with the Cleo brand belonging to conglomerate Hermanto Tanoko, PT Sariguna Primatirta Tbk (CLEO), recorded a 30 percent increase in sales to Rp307.7 billion in the first quarter of 2022.

"CLEO can still maintain its existence and even become one of the choices of bottled drinking water for the people of Indonesia", said Deputy Director of CLEO, Melisa Patricia, in a written statement, quoted Friday, May 13.

This is reflected in CLEO's net profit which reached Rp45.8 billion, up 9 percent compared to the first quarter of 2021. Melisa said the increase could not be separated from the prospect of bottled drinking water continuing to squirm, coupled with a surge in demand for drinking water at the current momentum.

"Therefore, we are committed to continuing to add factories and production capacity so that CLEO can continue to meet the drinking water needs of the Indonesian people", she said.

Seeing the positive growth of bottled drinking water, CLEO's non-bottled products are still the main contributor to CLEO sales, amounting to 51 percent in the first quarter of 2022. Meanwhile, the sales contribution in the bottle segment increased to 48 percent in the first quarter of 2022 compared to last year's 41 percent.

As the first bottled drinking water (AMDK) producer in Indonesia to receive a food safety management ISO 22000:2005 certificate, Melisa said CLEO continues to add new factories outside Java, namely Sumatra and Kalimantan. Each of these factories is projected to have a capacity of up to 100 million liters per year.

This corporate action is in line with the high demand for bottled water and the company's anticipation of the surge in demand. To date, CLEO has 27 AMDK processing plants plus 3 other factories which are projected to be completed in 2022.

The Company so far has a distribution network spread across several regions in Indonesia, including Java, Sumatra, Kalimantan, Sulawesi, Bali, East Nusa Tenggara, West Nusa Tenggara, and Papua with a total network of 200 internal distributors and 1,515 total external distributors.

"Seeing the bright prospect and the continued increase in demand for drinking water, in the future, we will not only add factories and capacities but also add to the CLEO distribution network, both internal and external distributors", she concluded.
