Economic Growth Behind The Mandalika MotoGP, Sandiaga Uno: Homestays Are Flooded With Orders, Online Taxi Drivers Get IDR 1.8 Million

JAKARTA - Minister of Tourism and Creative Economy Sandiaga Uno continues to praise the implementation of the Pertamina Grand Prix of Indonesia or MotoGP 2022 in Mandalika. In fact, Sandiaga assesses that the Mandalika MotoGP has proven to be right in terms of the impact it produces, especially starting the transition to a post-pandemic life.

"The success of this event was able to have a broad impact on the community, so that it was able to move the economy by opening up more job opportunities," said Minister of Tourism and Creative Economy, Sandiaga, quoted by Antara, Sunday, March 20.

Sandiaga told that there was a homestay owner for tourism residential facilities (sarhunta) named Haji Salamiah who had lived in the Mandalika area for 40 years. However, not many people have come to book a place to stay.

Thanks to the 2022 MotoGP, he said, all rooms in his sarhunta were fully booked this week.

In fact, said Sandiaga, there was one online taxi driver who this morning had earned more than IDR 1.8 million.

"This has an extraordinary impact and in the future, we will continue to improve it, so that subsequent events will be smoother, more useful. I thank all those who have helped organize this MotoGP," he also said.

On the same occasion, he also appreciated the success of various parties for the successful implementation of the international racing event. Starting from ministries/agencies, industry, and other parties including community support.

Miguel Oliviera, who won the 2022 MotoGP, is said to have given a positive response to the hospitality of the staff at the hotel where the racer lives.

"So it is proven that the training we have conducted in the tourism and creative economy sectors, especially human resources, has yielded results," said the Minister of Tourism and Creative Economy.
