Regional Assistant (Asda) I of the Cilegon City Government, Tatang Muftadi said the award shows that industrial players in this steel city are truly qualified and can demonstrate that commitment even in the midst of difficult conditions due to the pandemic.

"If quality is maintained, then that is where the company can be assessed for its concern for the government and the environment", said Tatang in Cilegon, quoted on Thursday, March 17.

Tatang added that the awards received must be maintained and improved in quality. He invited PT Indo Raya Tenaga and other industry players to continue to apply health protocols as one of the main things in occupational health and safety.

Educate residents

General Manager of PT IRT, Steve Adrianto, also emphasized that this employment commitment is to absorb local workers and provide scholarships, as well as education to improve their skills. Most recently, IRT also sent residents to attend training at one of the National Level Job Training Development Centers (BBPLK), namely BBPLK Serang.

Dimas, a participant in the training, a resident of Suralaya, said that the briefing provided by PT IRT was an opportunity that should be used as well as possible. He considered this is a form of real empowerment of residents.

The same thing was stated by a resident of Lebakgede, Septia Hertiwi. The training participants majoring in industrial mechatronics expressed their joy. He considered that the selection made was the right thing to see competence.

Another resident, Riko Febrian Effendi from Salira, said that what PT IRT was doing was real for residents.

"This is my first experience, and PT IRT has provided employment opportunities, especially young people to knowledge and job opportunities", said Riko, who graduated from Vocational High School last year.

To the training participants, the Head of Suralaya Village, Eman Sulaiman, reminded them not to waste this opportunity. He also advised the selected participants not to feel arrogant.

"Brothers who are present and have received an agreement from the company are the lucky ones, so don't waste this opportunity", he said.

He also expressed his appreciation for the IRT management who pays attention to residents.

"The efforts made by PT IRT are real work programs and need support from various parties", he added.

Meanwhile, Steve Adrianto said, employment in nearby areas is also expected to create a good effect on the country's economic recovery. This is in line with the efforts to prevent layoffs conveyed by President Jokowi to business actors on various occasions.

In empowering citizens and prospective workers, PT IRT also provides scholarships and opens a certification program. In the field of work safety, the management of this plant has achieved a record of zero accidents for a total of 3 million working hours. Not only that, but Jawa 9&10 USC Power Plant has also vaccinated more than 1,500 people,

Steve explained that in this training the residents of Suralaya Village, Lebakgede Village, and Salira Village were included in the 1-Year Expert Technician training program at BBPLK Serang which can be equivalent to the D-1 level. The internship activities that are part of the training series will be carried out at the USC power plant project.

The chosen ones also signed a collective agreement witnessed by the Suralaya Village Head, Lebakgede Village Head, and Salira Village Head on Friday, March 11.

Participants are also guaranteed accommodation needs, consumption, and washing clothes, to pocket money for needs during education. If they pass all series of training programs in the field of Production Machinery Leader or Industrial Mechatronics Technician, then in January 2023 they will become PT IRT employees according to their respective fields and expertise.

"As one of the company's commitments (IRT.red) in recruiting local workers is that we improve the education and skills of those who pass the initial test. One of the things that are emphasized is the importance of occupational health and safety", said Steve Adrianto.

On a different occasion, Deputy Governor of Banten, Andika Hazrumy, when handing over awards to 433 companies in the province, invited all labor stakeholders to build an attitude of optimism in the midst of this pandemic. He appreciated the number of companies that are increasingly improving aspects of occupational safety and health.

"This year the award was given to 433 companies, this is an increase of about 40 percent compared to last year. This means that the compliance of companies in Banten to occupational safety and health (K3) has increased", Andika told reporters.

The award from the Banten Provincial Government was then handed over by the Head of the UPT for Labor Supervision for the Serang and Cilegon Regions, the Banten Province Manpower Service to several companies, including PT Indo Raya Tenaga who received three awards.
