Collaboration With Chinese Company, Hutama Karya To Work On Semarang-Demak 1A Toll Road Along 4 Kilometers

JAKARTA - PT Hutama Karya has won a new contract to work on the 4 km Semarang-Demak 1A Toll Road construction project. In the process, Hutama Karya collaborated with the Beijing Urban Construction Group (BUCG), with Hutama Karya's portion being 40 percent.

The signing of the project contract was carried out on January 24, 2022, at the Auditorium Building of the Ministry of PUPR, Jakarta. The signing of the project contract was carried out between the PPK for the Semarang-Demak Toll Road Package 1A, Benni W. Christiawan and JO Authorized Representative of Beijing Urban Construction Group Co Ltd Fan Zhiwei, witnessed by PUPR Minister Basuki Hadimuljono, Coordinating Minister for Economic Affairs Airlangga Hartanto, and Minister of Finance Sri Mulyani.

Director of Operations I Hutama Karya Novias Nurendra said that Hutama Karya together with BUCG targeted this Rp 2.08 trillion project to be completed within 810 calendar days or in July 2024.

"As for working on the Semarang-Demak 1A Toll Road, we will work on raising the Kaligawe Bridge, connecting the approach bridge, and elevation work at 14 points. All of them are in the Semarang City area," said Novias in a written statement, Friday, March 11.

Furthermore, Novias said that the Semarang-Demak 1A Toll Road project was built on very soft soil from a depth of 0 to 20 m so that in its construction the company will use Mortar Foam technology to overcome the soft soil conditions.

"One of the challenges in this project is that the project location is in an area with quite heavy traffic, so traffic engineering will be carried out later. However, we will ensure that the construction of the Semarang-Demak 1A Toll Road does not interfere with road users, especially on arterial roads. around the project. We have prepared mitigation," explained Novias.

The Semarang-Demak Toll Road Project is one of the national strategic projects (PSN). If completed, the presence of the Semarang-Demak 1A Toll Road will open connectivity and increase road capacity, especially in the Semarang City and Demak Regency areas so as to facilitate the economic activities of the surrounding community.

The presence of this toll road will also complement the existing toll road network in Central Java Province as well as the construction of a sea wall in the northern area of Semarang City to overcome the problem of tidal flooding that often occurs in the Semarang and Demak areas.
