PURWOKERTO - Central Java Governor Ganjar Pranowo asked the Financial Services Authority (OJK) to continue educating the public regarding various investment offers that are currently rife in the community. With an increasingly intensive educational program, it is hoped that it will minimize the risk of the public being ensnared by the seduction of harmful digital investments.

"On my cellphone, business prospects are sent almost every day. What is it called? It's like Forex, you know. What's interesting is that I never gave permission (to) me and they sent them continuously," said Ganjar, during the inauguration of the new OJK office building, in Purwokerto, as reported by Antara, Tuesday, March 8.

According to Ganjar, the promotional words conveyed in the investment offer look very attractive and often require time for them to convey their exposure. With such an offering model, Ganjar suspects that there is something behind the investment prospect's offer.

Regarding the various investment offers, Ganjar admitted that he often communicated directly with the Head of OJK Regional Central Java and Yogyakarta Special Region, Aman Santosa, to confirm the truth and legality of the investments offered.

"So, I was helped a lot by him to be able to explain. Not only that, for the past few days we have also been given a show on television, young people are very rich, showing off watches that cost Rp. 7 billion or how much," said Ganjar.

According to him, behind the story of the watch, there seems to be a digital investment story that this young man has been working on. Ganjar also conveyed, until now the digital investment business is growing so fast because in the midst of the COVID19 pandemic, the offer is considered very tempting and will be in great demand.

"Yes, it's like 'sugar' that is in front of your eyes, you just have to eat it, you just need to lick it, as if everything tastes sweet. But we never know whether this (investment, ed.) is true or not," said Ganjar.

Therefore, Ganjar hopes that the new Purwokerto OJK Office building can really be a place to educate the public as well as ask questions about financial issues, including digital investment.

Meanwhile, Chairman of the OJK Board of Commissioners, Wimboh Santoso, said that his party is currently very aggressive in educating the public, especially those related to online loans (online loans/loans). "Currently there are lots of online loans, so choose the legal one," said Wimboh.

According to him, OJK will continue to encourage loans to provide low interest rates or profit sharing. Wimboh also appealed to the public to be careful of other products that promise big profits.

"It's better to ask OJK directly. You don't have to come. Please use social media (social media). How is this product, true or not," he said.

Furthermore, Wimboh said that so far the Investment Alert Task Force has closed 3,734 illegal loans, although in practice illegal loans that have been closed are still desperate to open with new ones. Therefore, it is very important for the public to be educated regarding these online loans.

"And now there is a so-called trading robot. The loss to the community through illegal trading robots and illegal cryptocurrencies has reached Rp. 117.5 trillion. We will continue to fight all forms of illegal investment, by continuing to cooperate with relevant institutions that are part of the Investment Alert Task Force. ," said Wimboh.
