JAKARTA - President Joko Widodo inaugurated the 515 MW Poso Energy Hydroelectric Power Plant (PLTA) and the 90 MW Malea Energy Hydroelectric Power Plant owned by the family of former Vice President Jusuf Kalla.
In his remarks, the President said that the presence of hydropower will support the transition process from fossil energy use to green or new and renewable energy (EBT).
"These two hydropower plants can prove to the world that Indonesia is active in making an energy transition," said Jokowi, quoted from the Presidential Secretariat Youtube Channel, Friday, February 25.
President Jokowi added that global urges and provides a spot for all countries to shift the use of fossil energy, especially coal, to enter green energy.
"Thank God, Indonesia's potential is huge from various sources," he said.

"In addition, there is solar, wind, up to ocean currents. Everything in our country is just how to shift from coal to green energy. This is not an easy job because we have lots of steam power plants," added the President.

With a total capacity of 515 MW, the Poso PLTA located in Poso, Central Sulawesi, is the largest NRE power plant in Eastern Indonesia built and operated by PT Poso Energy, a subsidiary of the Kalla Group.
Meanwhile, the Malea hydropower plant with a capacity of 90 MW located in Tana Toraja, South Sulawesi was developed by PT Malea Energy, a subsidiary of PT Bukaka Teknik Utama.
