JAKARTA – The government through the Ministry of Finance (Kemenkeu) guarantees that the energy subsidies that have been designed in the 2022 State Budget will remain safe even though they are currently faced with rising world oil prices.

"The impact on energy subsidies in the State Budget (APBN) will be monitored continuously and we assess that this situation is still under control so there is no need to worry," said Head of the Fiscal Policy Agency (BKF) of the Ministry of Finance, Febrio Kacaribu, at a press conference in APBN Kita on Tuesday, February 23.

According to Febrio, the government is committed to managing state finances carefully while still adhering to the principles of accountability.

"Here we want to ensure that people's purchasing power will continue to be maintained," he said.

For information, the spike in world crude oil prices continues to occur following the increase in energy demand in Europe. Apart from this, tensions between Russia and Ukraine in the region further exacerbated the situation causing prices to skyrocket.

Recently, Russia's aggressive attitude towards Ukraine in recent days has also raised the price of oil commodities to near the level of 100 US dollars per barrel.
