President: TMMIN Exports To Australia Proof Of Indonesian HR Qualification

JAKARTA - President Joko Widodo said that the success of PT Toyota Motor Manufacturing Indonesia (TMMIN) in exporting cars to Australia is proof of the qualifications of Indonesian human resources (HR) in the automotive industry.

This was conveyed by the President when releasing TMMIN's first export to Australia along with a ceremony for achieving export production of 2 million units at the TMMIN Factory in Karawang, West Java, Tuesday 15 February.

The president had a chance to directly inspect the products exported by TMMIN, one of which is the Toyota Fortuner which is intended for the Australian market.

"I really appreciate, really appreciate it, because whatever we saw earlier, Fortuner products, apart from other products, are produced by Indonesian human resources who have very good qualifications for export products," the President said in his remarks broadcast live on the official YouTube channel of the Presidential Secretariat.

According to the President, the export market for Indonesian automotive products must demonstrate quality and qualifications in order to compete with other car-producing countries.

"This proves that Indonesian human resources have good qualifications in producing cars. Very thorough, very careful, very careful because this is about people's safety," he said.

The President also expressed his appreciation for the performance of the Minister of Industry, Agus Gumiwang Kartasasmita, who continues to encourage the growth of the export market for Indonesian automotive industry products.

"And what I am also happy about is that the local content, TKDN (Domestic Content Level) is more than 75 percent," said the President.

"And many of the components, spare parts and accessories in the car are supplied by our SME industries. This is also very good for reviving small businesses in our country," said President Jokowi.

At the same time, Minister of Industry Agus Gumiwang said that Indonesian automotive products had penetrated exports to 80 countries.

Throughout 2021, the export performance of the automotive industry reached 294 thousand units of completely built-up (CBU) vehicles worth IDR 52.9 trillion and 91 thousand sets of completely knocked down vehicles. (CKD) worth IDR 1.31 trillion.
