JAKARTA - There is a special approach taken by the Ministry of Public Works and Public Housing (PUPR) in structuring the Mangrove Area of the Ngurah Rai Forest Park (Tahura), Bali. In particular, the Ministry of PUPR emphasizes the use of concrete materials to a minimum and instead optimizes natural materials.

Deputy Minister of PUPR John Wempi Wetipo said this strategy was taken in order to welcome the G20 Summit in Bali and the 2022 National Waste Care Day.

According to John, his party began to organize the Mangrove Area Tahura Ngurah Rai in January 2022 and is targeted for completion in September 2022. So that in October 2022 it can be used as a mangrove showcase.

"In order not to damage mangroves, the PUPR Ministry will optimize the use of bamboo, wood and other natural elements and reduce the use of concrete materials," he said in a press release quoted on Monday, January 31.

Wempi explained that the scope of work on structuring the Tahura Ngurah Rai Mangrove Area included the construction of entrance gates, drop off areas, wantilan, mangrove tracking, nursery areas, receiving areas (lobby, ticketing, receiving offices), viewing towers, viewing decks towards Benoa Bay. , and the parking area around the Muara Reservoir.

On the same occasion, Deputy Minister of the Environment Alue Dohong explained that mangroves are ecosystems that function as habitats for several species of marine animals and birds and can prevent erosion and coastal abrasion.

"Mangroves have high ecological, economic and social values, so we must always protect them by controlling waste," he said.

At the event, Mangrove Clean Up Action was also carried out, planting 220 trees, and releasing 5,000 tilapia seeds in the Muara Nusa Dua Reservoir.
