Kylian Mbappe Expresses His Desire To Play With Cristiano Ronaldo

JAKARTA - Kylian Mbappe said he hopes to play with Real Madrid legend Cristiano Ronaldo, the club's all-time leading goalscorer.

The France international has become a team-mate of other football icons. However, he said he would love to play with Ronaldo, the five-time Ballon d'Or winner and Portugal captain.

"I've played with great players, Lionel Messi, Neymar, (Antoine) Griezmann, (Paul) Pogba, (Karim) Benzema."

"It would be nice to play with Cristiano Ronaldo. Now it will be very difficult, but I was lucky enough to play against him, a sports legend," Mbappe told BeINsports.

Ronaldo, now 39, left the Spanish giants in 2018 and now plays for Saudi Arabia's Pro-League club, Al Nassr.

Mbappe helped Real Madrid win the 2024 Intercontinental Cup on Thursday, December 19, 2024, early morning WIB. It became his second title since joining Los Blancos last summer after his contract with Paris Saint-Germain expired.

Speaking to youth with disabilities as part of the BeUNITED program, Mbappe said he would never have left Paris Saint-Germain had he not joined Real Madrid.

"I went to the biggest club in the world. I've always said that it was the only club I would choose to leave PSG."

"If I can't go to Madrid, I'll stay at PSG for the rest of my life," said the 2018 World Cup winner.

Although Mbappe has made a prolific appearance for Real Madrid so far, he has faced criticism for his thorough performance after suffering several major defeats at the start of the season.

However, he tried not to heed too much. The focus is on contributing as much as possible to Los Blancos to win various titles this season.

"Since I was 14 years old, everyone told me I was going to be a great player."

"However, when you grow up, sometimes you feel small. At first, I was too hungry and it outwitted me because I couldn't wait. However, I have this passion and competitive side."

"My dream now is to win trophies with my team, not individual awards. What great titles are left for me?"

"The Champions League, but I'm at the best club in the world for that," the 25-year-old said.
