Drawing Of The 2027 Asian Cup Qualification Without The Indonesian National Team, 24 Teams Compete For Tickets To The Final Round

Thailand entered the leading Pot in the 2027 Asian Cup Third Cup Qualification draw (Instagram/@changsuek).

The draw for the Third Round of the 2027 Asian Cup Qualification will be held on Monday, December 9, 2024, in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia.

A total of 24 countries will compete for six tickets to the final round which will be held in Saudi Arabia on January 15-8 February 2027.

Meanwhile, the 2027 Asian Cup Third Round Qualification is scheduled to take place from March 25 to 31, 2026. This qualification uses a format that will divide the participants into six groups consisting of four teams each.

Later, only group winners can advance to the finals and follow 18 other teams who have already confirmed their place.

Those who have passed are the team that managed to reach the Third Round of the 2026 World Cup Qualifiers in the Asian Zone.

This Third Round Qualification Draw divides 24 contestants into four pots based on FIFA rankings. Syria, which is ranked 92th in the world, is the main seed.

Meanwhile, for Southeast Asia, Thailand became the team with the highest ranking, then Vietnam was included in the list of leading teams.

There are 10 Southeast Asian countries that will compete in this qualifying, except for the Indonesian national team.

The Garuda squad does not need to go through this round because it has moved to the Third Round of the 2026 World Cup Qualifiers as well as received a direct ticket to the 2027 Asian Cup finals.

Competition in this qualification is expected to be fierce. Moreover, Thailand and Vietnam, which enter the leading pot, are expected to be able to compete to advance to the final round.
