JAKARTA - The name Claudio Echeverri is still a hot topic of conversation in the world of football after performing brilliantly at the 2023 U-17 World Cup.

The Argentine managed to steal the show with his stunning performance, including scoring a hat-trick in Argentina's 3-0 win over Brazil in the 2023 U-17 World Cup quarter-finals which took place at the Jakarta International Stadium (JIS) on Friday, November 24, 2023 evening WIB.

The Argentine was touted as a new 'Messi' because of his playing style similar to that of Barcelona and Argentina legend Lionel Messi.

The player who is also number 10 plays as an attacking midfielder in the Argentine national team. He has extraordinary speed, technique, and drabling abilities. He also has a sharp vision of playing and is able to score goals from various positions.

Echeverri himself admitted that he was very happy with his appearance at the U-17 World Cup. He hopes to continue to grow and achieve success in the future.

"Something fun can be compared to Messi. It's really fun for people in Indonesia to see my abilities and hard work in football," he said through an interpreter, reported by ANTARA, Saturday, November 25.

Echeverri is still 17 years old. He has the potential to become a star player in the future, especially with his current appearance certainly attracting the attention of a number of big European clubs.

If Echeverri continues to develop, he could be part of the senior Argentina national team at the 2026 World Cup.
