Fabio Di Giannantonio Becomes A Strong Option To Replace Luca Marini In VR46

JAKARTA Gresini Racing Racer Fabio Di Giannantonio is a strong option in the rowing line-up exchange for the town VR46 Racing Team replacing Luca Marini.

Valentino Rossi's VR46 still has to think about who will replace Marini who will move to Repsol Honda. Even though there has been no official announcement, the move is just a matter of time.

Director of Team VR46 Alessio Salucci said they currently have two names of candidates to replace Marini, including Di Giannantonio. For this reason, the decision to choose one of them is likely to be made after the final race of the Valencia Grand Prix over the weekend.

"We have two options. Valentino Rossi, the real boss, also came here [Valencia] to speak and in the next few days we will try to find the right decision for us," he said, quoted by Crash.

Salucci admitted that at first he did not want to enter the name Di Giannantonio during the race in Sepang, Malaysia. The reason is that their project prioritizes rookie riders.

However, at the time of the race in Qatar last week Fabio Di Giannantonio performed extraordinary and managed to climb the highest podium. Therefore, VR46 also opened the conversation with the Italian racer.

"We talked a lot with Fabio yesterday. Valentino Rossi came here to make a decision. He took the right decision for 2024," he said.

Apart from Fabio Di Giannantonio, the VR46 team is also said to be interested in recruiting Moto3 racer Fermin Aldeguer. However, this name was denied by Salucci.

"The second option is not Aldegeer. He is one of the racers who is still very young, but we will see him in the next few days," he said.
