JAKARTA The Italian racer, Luca Marini, officially confirmed his move to Repsol Honda. The announcement of the move will be released in the near future.

The 26-year-old racer is the most powerful candidate to fill the vacant position left by Marc Marquez next season. The move to the Japanese manufacturer seems to be a matter of time.

Marini, who has played for thetangle VR46 Racing Team this season, is still reluctant to provide certainty so far. He just made sure that he was happy to be in the factory team.

"The news will come soon. There's not much I can say at this time. We'll see in the next few days," Marini said as reported by Crash.

'Being in the factory team has always been my dream. In my opinion, this is the right time. There is this opportunity after the decision (made by) Marc (Marquez). There is a good opportunity for me and I will try my best," he added.

Marini performed well with fire VR46 in MotoGP 2023. He is currently in seventh position in the standings with a collection of 194 points.

If he really leaves VR46 then Marini's position is most likely replaced by the rider who won the Qatar MotoGP last week, Fabio di Giannantonio.

"It was an amazing journey with VR46. I want to thank the whole team, also Moto2 in the past. I enjoy every moment and want to enjoy it this weekend in Valencia," Marini said.

Marc Marquez's 11-year long career with Honda will end this weekend in the Valencia MotoGP race, 24-26 November 2023.

The Spaniard will join Gresini Racing starting MotoGP 2024. He will ride Ducati Desmosedici in the test after Valencia MotoGP.
