Defeating Slovenia, Denmark Becomes 13th Team To Escape To Germany

JAKARTA - Denmark became the 13th national team to win a ticket to Euro 2024. Denmark made sure to qualify after a 2-1 win over Slovenia in the Group H qualifying match at Parken Stadium, November 18 in the morning WIB.

Denmark is back in action in the European Cup. In the last event, Euro 2020, Danish Dynamite successfully broke into the semifinals before being defeated by England 2-1 in extra time.

Now, the team that once made a surprise by winning at Euro 1992 has again qualified to compete in the finals after winning over Slovenia.

The victory made Denmark strengthen its position at the top of the standings with 22. Leaving one last match, their points could no longer be pursued by Kazakhstan, which is ranked third with 18 points.

Likewise, Slovenia is in second place with 19 points. Despite winning against Kazakhstan in the last match, they still lost head to head with Denmark.

Slovenia itself even fought with Kazakhstan for the last ticket. Once again, the decisive match of a winner takes all was held at home to Slovenia, November 21 in the morning WIB.

In the duel against Denmark which acted as the host, Slovenia did experience difficulties. On the other hand, Denmark was able to show dominance from the first minute.

The hosts were close to winning when Jonas Wind' header threatened Slovenia's goal in the 12th minute. But goalkeeper Jan Oblak brilliantly parried Wind's header.

Denmark finally managed to take the lead in the 26th minute. This time, Joakim Maehle, who broke into the visitors' goal through a half-volley when he met Victor Kristiansen's cross.

Unfortunately, Denmark failed to maintain the advantage. Only four minutes later, Slovenian defender Erik Janza successfully broke into Kasper Schmeichel's goal via a free kick. The 1-1 score lasted until the end of the first half.

In the second half, Denmark's game did not change and tried to pressure the opponent. Yussuf Poulsen recorded two chances in the early minutes threatening Slovenian defense. But he failed to convert it into a goal.

Denmark's bumpy attacks finally gave a satisfactory result. Midfielder Thomas Delaney successfully broke into Slovenia's goal in the 54th minute.

The goal started with Jannick Vestergaard's attempt to give the ball through a header to Delaney.

The cooked ball was then struck by Delaney who broke into the Slovenian goal. The goal was immediately greeted by cheers from the crowd who filled the stadium.

The score changed to 2-1 for Denmark. The hosts still put pressure on Slovenia to add goals. But their efforts failed and Denmark closed the game with a 2-1 win.
