Ni Kadek Heni Wins Gold Medal At The Taekwondo Asian Championship In Pakistan

JAKARTA - Indonesian taekwondo athlete Ni Kadek Heni won the women's 49kg class gold medal at the 5th Comaxx Asian Open Taekwondo Championship championship which was held in Islamabad-Pakistan 1-5 November 2023.

With the advantages of his technique and agility, Ni Kadek became the best of his rivals before defeating the athlete from Nepal, Anjali Tamang with a score of 2-1 in the tense final.

"I'm happy and proud to be able to contribute gold to Indonesia. Hopefully we can do more in the next events," said Ni Kadek Heni in a written statement quoted by Antara, Saturday, November 4.

The gold medal in Pakistan is the third podium for the athlete from Bali this year after previously winning the Bulgaria Open and leaving as runners-up for the 2023 SEA Games at the Phnom Penh.

Meanwhile, the General Chairperson of the Indonesian Taekwondo Executive Board (PB TI), Lt. Gen. Richard Tampubolon, congratulated and proud of Ni Kadek Heni's extraordinary achievements at the Asian Championships.

"We still have several other potentials because there are still Indonesian representatives competing and hopefully this score can spark enthusiasm for other Indonesian taekwondo athletes so that Indonesia Raya can echo loudly in Pakistan," said Richard.
