Losing At The Hands Of Pusarla In The Last 16 Of The Denmark Open 2023, Gregoria: Honestly I'm Still Upset

JAKARTA Gregoria Mariska Tunjung lost in the last 16 of the Denmark Open 2023 against the women's singles India, Pusarla V. Sindhu.

Gregoria's trip at the Super 750 BWF event was confirmed to have stopped after she lost the three games 21-18, 15-21, and 13-21 at Jyske Bank Arena, Thursday, October 19, 2023 evening WIB.

"The biggest record is of course in the second and third games, it should be in times of pressure like that, I shouldn't make many mistakes myself," said Gregoria after the match.

After winning the first game, Gregoria came from a far behind 6-14 to equalize in the second game. Unfortunately, he lost six points in a row after that and was only able to add one point.

In the third game, the 2017 junior world champion and seventh seed had led 13-10. However, he even lost 11 points in a row after that.

"Honestly, now I'm still annoyed with myself, especially in the third game after the interval. Why don't you wake up quickly when you lose 3-4 points in a row," said Gregoria.

"After the interval in the third game, Sindhu felt more pressing and playing tactically, while I did not put more pressure on her," he added.

This defeat also exacerbated Gregoria's winning record over India's representative to 2-9. This is also Gregoria's second consecutive defeat to Pusarla including the Indonesia Open last June.

The results obtained by Gregoria made it certain that Indonesia did not have a women's singles representative in the Super 750 level event.

Before the first round on Wednesday, October 18, Indonesia had already lost Putri Kusuma Wardani. He lost against Chinese representative Chen Yufei.
