Prediction Of Indonesia's Position In FIFA Ranking After Twice Beating Brunei 6-0

JAKARTA - Indonesia's position in the FIFA ranking list is predicted to rise to three places. This cannot be separated from the two victories won against Brunei Darussalam in the first round of the 2026 World Cup Qualification.

The Indonesian national team managed to qualify for the second round of the 2026 World Cup Qualification which was included in the FIFA calendar. In the first round, the Garuda Squad faced Brunei Darussalam twice with the away cage system.

From the two meetings, Shin Tae-yong's team always managed to record two big wins. First, the score 6-0 was achieved when appearing in Jakarta and the second meeting in Begawan Series Bandar was also closed with the same score 6-0.

This result made Indonesia 12-0 on aggregate from Brunei. Shin Tae-yong's team qualified and joined in Group F with Iraq, Vietnam, and the Philippines.

The latest FIFA ranking update on September 21, 2023, Indonesia is still in the 147th place in the world with 1052.87 points.

Now with the addition of points from two wins over Brunei, Indonesia's position in the FIFA ranks has a great opportunity to advance to 144 or 145 positions. This is because the two victories are predicted to increase Indonesia's achievements by around 16 to 17 points.

Likewise, certainty about Indonesia's latest ranking position still has to wait for the official release of FIFA. The agenda is planned to be announced after the October 2023 edition of FIFA Matchday is completed.
