Andre Onana is Disappointing, Manchester United Wants to Withdraw Jan Oblak from Atletico Madrid

JAKARTA – Manchester United is claimed to be considering a move to bring in Atletico Madrid goalkeeper Jan Oblak in the winter transfer market after Andre Onana's poor performance at the start of the season.

The Red Devils chose to release David de Gea, who is currently on a free transfer, at the beginning of June. They then brought in Onana as a replacement for the Spaniard in a £47 million transfer from Inter Milan.

However, the goalkeeper, who has 34 caps with the Cameroon national team, experienced a bad start to the 2023-2024 season. He only kept two clean sheets in seven games and conceded 14 goals.

Now, Todofichajes, who is based in Spain, claims that MU has identified Oblak as a target they want to pursue in the winter transfer market next January. They will try to offer a proposal worth 44 million pounds sterling to get the Slovenian national team goalkeeper from Atletico Madrid.

However, it is believed that Real Madrid's city rivals are reluctant to let go of their main goalkeeper in the middle of the season. The team made by Diego Simeone intends to find a suitable replacement before releasing Oblak, who helped lead Atletico to the 2020-2021 La Liga title.

It is known that the 30 year old goalkeeper is still under contract until June 2028 at the Wanda Metropolitano. However, the player who is currently in his tenth season with Los Rojiblancos is said to be interested in moving and looking for a new adventure.

Jan Oblak has so far kept 193 clean sheets and conceded 305 goals in 397 appearances in all competitions for Atletico Madrid.
