Indonesian League 1 Results 2023/2024: PSIS Semarang Shifts Barito Putera From The Top 4 Position

JAKARTA PSIS Semarang rose to fourth place in the 2023/2024 Indonesian League 1 standings to replace Barito Putera, which they defeated dramatically 1-0 at Jatidiri Stadium, Semarang, Friday (22/9) night WIB.

The single goal that determines Laskar Mahesa Jenar's victory was scored by Carlos Fortes in the 75th minute. He conquered the opposing team goalkeeper after maximizing Vitinho's pass.

This is the second consecutive victory PSIS got at home after the defeat against Persib Bandung last August. Before conquering Barito, they first won at home against Bali United earlier this month.

An additional three points means that PSIS has collected a total of 21 points from 13 matches. They are five points behind Madura United who are in control at the top of the standings at the moment.

Meanwhile, for Barito Putera, this defeat was their third defeat in a row in an away match. In the previous two matches they were recorded as losing to Bali United and PSM Makassar respectively.

Losing three points at the opponent's headquarters, Barito Putera had to be willing to shift to fifth. They are only one point adrift of PSIS who have just beaten them.

In another match, the victory with the same score was also secured by Persita Tangerang when welcoming the Dewa United visitors team at the Indomilk Arena Stadium. The only goal for the host was scored by Esal Sahrul Muhrom.

Persita is now creeping up to the fourteenth position in the standings with 14 points. As for Dewa United, who lost 12th place with a three-point advantage over Persita.

In the following week, PSIS will meet PSM Makassar, while Barito Putera will host Rans Nusantara.

Meanwhile, Persita Tangerang will visit Persib Bandung headquarters, and Dewa United welcomes Persebaya Surabaya.
