Fired By DFB After Germany Was Slaughtered By Japan, Hansi Flick Sets An Embarrassing Record

JAKARTA - The German Football Federation (DFB) has officially announced the sacking of Hansi Flick from the German national team coach seat. This made Flick set a bad record in his coaching career.

Flick became the first and only coach to be sacked as coach of the German national team since 1926.

Sporting director Rudi Voeller will take over the position temporarily. Voeller will reportedly not lead Germany until the 2024 European Cup.

As is known, Germany will host the European football grand event.

DFB chairman Bernd Neuendorf said the dismissal was inevitable after a series of disappointing results obtained by the German national team. Most recently, De Panzer was arrested by Japan with a score of 1-4.

"With a view on the European Cup in our own country, we need an optimistic spirit and confidence," Neuendorf said in a statement as quoted by AFP via Antara.

Julian Nagelsmann, who previously replaced Flick as Bayern Munich coach, is said to have the opportunity to fill the position ahead of the European Cup.

Former Eintracht Frankfurt coach Oliver Glasner, who like Nagelsmann is unemployed, is also said to have the opportunity to replace Flick.

Germany was defeated by Japan in a friendly match played in Wolfsburg. Germany is still lucky as goalkeeper Marc-Andre ter Stegen made a number of important saves to prevent his team from being humiliated even more severely.

Germany has now recorded four defeats to their six matches since they were kicked out earlier than the World Cup in December.

So far, Germany has never made a drastic change in the position of coach of the national team. Before Flick, no German national team coach had ever been fired.

Flick was appointed coach of the national team in May 2021 after Joachim Loew's 15-year tenure ended. Flick has been the 10th head coach of the German national team since World War II.

Previously Flick led Bayern Munich to win seven trophies while handling the giant club for 18 months. In his first eight games with the national team, Flick's men always won.

But since then he has only won four of 17 matches, and Germany has then been knocked out in the 2022 World Cup group stage.
