Was Not being Confident, Lanny/Ribka Successfully Won the 2023 Indonesia Masters Title

JAKARTA - Indonesian women's doubles, Lanny Tria Mayasari/Ribka Sugiarto, succeeded in winning the title at the 2023 Indonesia Masters event in Medan. In the final, Sunday, September 10, 2023, Lanny/Ribka defeated Taiwanese representatives in two games.

Appearing in the Super 100 championship which took place at GOR PBSI Jalan Pancing, Medan, North Sumatra, Lanny/Ribka appeared to dominate from the start of the match until they were able to win 22-20, 21-10 over Chang Ching Hui/Yang Ching Tun.

Lanny/Ribka dominated the game from the start of the match, but there was a moment where their opponents were chasing their points. Luckily, Lanny/Ribka's focus was maintained again until they were finally able to win the first game with a score of 22-20.

"In the first game, we played in a hurry wanting to win the match. Luckily at the end of the match, we were able to control the match and gain the lead," said Lanny, quoted from Antara, Sunday 10 September.

The good results in the first game made Lanny/Ribka's game get the upper hand when they entered the second game. The opponents were also under pressure considering the roar of the supporters who filled GOR Pancing so completely, after 39 minutes of play Lanny/Ribka were able to ensure victory with a score of 21-10.

"In the second game, we had the upper hand and had high self-confidence. This made us play more calmly and confidently to end the match with a win," said Rebekah.

Victory in the Super 100 tournament was able to provide consolation for the two of them who previously did not have a title at the 2023 World Championship. When appearing in Copenhagen, Lanny/Ribka failed in the round of 32 after losing badly to the Chinese women's doubles Chen Qing Chen/Jia Yi Fan with a score of 5-21, 8-21.

"In this tournament, we had doubts about becoming champions considering that we didn't play optimally in the last tournament. We were worried about whether we would win or not, but we tried to believe one by one that we could finally become champions," added Lanny.

The title of champion in the Indonesia Masters 2023 tournament is Lanny/Ribka's third title during their time as duet partners. Previously, Lanny/Ribka were recorded as having won the 2022 Indonesia International Challenge in Malang and the 2022 Bahrain International Challenge.

"This championship title is very important for us to compete at a higher level. So far, this championship title is a form of restoring our confidence and we really enjoy it," said Rebekah.
