9-0 Victory Over Taiwan is Proof That The U-23 Indonesian National Team, Coached by Shin Tae-yong Continues To Grow

JAKARTA - The coach of the Indonesian U-23 National Team, Shin Tae-yong, was very satisfied with the 9-0 victory his team achieved over Taiwan in the 2024 U-23 Asian Cup Qualifiers. For Shin Tae-yong, this big victory was proof that his team continues to show positive development.

The landslide victory achieved by the U-23 national team over Taiwan occurred in the first Group K match of the 2024 U-23 Asian Cup Qualification which took place at Manahan Stadium, Solo. The goal party on Saturday, September 9 evening Western Indonesian Time (WIB) was contributed by Marselino Ferdinan's brace, and one goal each from Pratama Arhan, Elkan Baggot, Ilham Rio Fahmi, Ramadhan Sananta, Witan Sulaeman, Rafael Struick, and Hokky Caraka.

"I want to applaud the players for their hard work. This score shows that football has developed, better than before," said Shin Tae-yong after the match, quoted on Sunday, September 10.

The performance of the Indonesian U-23 National Team when they beat Taiwan also deserves appreciation. In the first half, Marselino et al made the opposing team concede five goals with systematic play.

The solid appearance of players such as Marselino, Struick, Ivar Jenner, Pratama Arhan, Ramadhan Sananta and Arkhan Fikri also added to the suffering of the Taiwanese squad.

Shin Tae-yong also revealed that this cannot be separated from the motivation he continues to instill in the players. The coach always emphasizes that focus is the main aspect that players must always maintain.

"I give motivation to all the players that we can definitely do it, and this match will be more creative than before and we can win. I emphasize continuously during training and meetings that we have to focus. And the players can carry out instructions well," said Shin Tae-yong.

The 9-0 victory over Taiwan made the Indonesian U-23 National Team temporarily at the top of Group K of the 2024 U-23 Asian Cup Qualification, ahead on goal difference over Turkmenistan.

After this big victory, the national team squad still has to continue fighting because in the second match, Tuesday 12 September, they have Turkmenistan to face. In the match at Manahan Stadium, Solo, a draw will be enough for Indonesia to ensure they qualify for the U-23 Asian Cup as group winners.
