China Open 2023 Results: Three Games Bring Jonatan Christie To The Second Round, Fajar/Rian Run Aground From Danish Representatives

JAKARTA - Indonesian men's singles, Jonatan Christie, qualified for the second round or the last 16 of the 2023 China Open. Unfortunately, Jonathan's success failed to be followed by the first seeded men's doubles, Fajar Alfian/Muhammad Rian.

The player who is familiarly called Jojo confirmed a ticket to the second half after winning in a fierce three-game match. Facing Chinese representatives, Weng Hong Yang, at the Olympic Sports Center Gymnasium, China on Tuesday 5 September, Jojo won 22-21, 19-21 and 21-10.

The victory, which was secured by Jonatan Christie, brought the fifth seeded men's singles to face Canadian representative Brian Yang in the second half. Brian Yang previously confirmed the ticket to the round of 16 after overthrowing Mysha Zilberman.

Unfortunately Fajar/Rian's steps have stopped. The world number one men's doubles fell in the hands of Danish representatives, Kim Astrup/Anders Rasmussen. Fajar/Rian fell two straight games ending 19-21 and 19-21.

Indonesia has confirmed five other representatives including Jonatan Christie in the second half. This number can continue to grow because there are still a number of representatives of the Red and White who have not appeared in the first round.
