The Long Marathon Parung Was Held Again After 20 Years Of Vacuum, Carrying A Mission To Attract Regional Tourism

The Parung Panjang Marathon event was held again after a 20-year hiatus. This event was also greeted enthusiastically with more than 470 participants taking part.

In this edition, Parung Panjang Marathon participants went through two routes. The first route is five kilometers from the starting point in De'Lora and finishes at the Mount Dago tourist attraction.

Then the second route is 10 kilometers away by starting from Sentraland and finishing on Mount Dago.

"Lastly, it was held 20 years ago on the Jagabaya-Parungpanjang route, at which time there were not many tronton trucks downstream through Parungpanjang," said the person in charge of the event, Dede Anwar, as the person in charge of the event.

Dede admitted that the challenge of holding this event was related to routes that had not been maximized due to the limited area for marathons. However, he hopes that this event can continue to be scheduled every year and become a tourist destination in Parungpanjang in the future.

At the Parung Panjang Marathon 2023 event, SMP Islam Imam Syafi'i managed to make achievements. One of their students, Zaidan Maqdist, won the second place.

The head of the Islamic Middle School, Imam Syafi'i, Nurhadi Jamroni, said that school participation in this event was to measure students' abilities in athletics.

Nurhadi hopes that this competition will always be held to raise the spirit of sports in the Tarungpanjang area.

"We participated in this competition in the hope of training students' mentality and to find out the potential that students have," said Nurhadi.

Nurhadi said that his party prepared students with several programs. He also admitted that the students were so excited to participate in this event.

"I see that our students are very excited to follow suit. With high confidence and regular training, we see the mentality of the champion is with our students," said Nurhadi.
