JAKARTA - Indonesian women's singles, Gregoria Mariska Tunjung, has special attention when facing the Super 500 Korea Open 2023. Understandably, this is the first time she will play at Jinnam Stadium, Yeosu, South Korea.

The Korea Open 2023 will start today, Tuesday, July 18. In this tournament, Gregoria is wary of non-technical factors such as field conditions.

"This is my first time playing in Yeosu City and compared to other field matches which are relatively smaller. The characteristics are a little windy. So earlier I tried to really adapt so as not to be influenced by these conditions," said Gregoria.

In addition, continued Gregoria, the light on the field was uneven. He considered several spots such as the sidelines to be rather dark.

"But maybe tomorrow (when the match takes place) it will be more evenly distributed," he said, as reported by Antara.

Gregoria and other Indonesian representatives felt the field in the last exercise, Art, July 17. This 60-minute exercise also tried out the field of the match.

The 2023 Spain Masters champion revealed that he would try to achieve maximum results in the tournament that was fighting for the US$420,000 prize (around Rp6.3 billion).

"From physical, grateful that everything is in good condition. I prefer to prepare outside like mentally. Because I want to achieve maximum results in this tournament," Gregoria added,

Gregoria, who is listed as the sixth seed, will start the Korea Open 2023 against the Spanish badminton player Clara Azumendi in the first round.

Apart from Gregoria, there were eight other Indonesian representatives who competed in the Korea Open 2023. From the women's singles sector, there was Putri Kusuma Wardani.

For the men's singles Chico Aura Dwi Wardoyo, he is the only Indonesian representative to compete after other Red and White mainstay players such as Anthony Sinisuka Ginting and Jonatan Christie chose to be absent.

Men's doubles are the most sectors, namely four couples. They are Fajar Alfian/Muhammad Rian Ardianto, Leo Rolly Carnando/Daniel Marthin, Bagas Maulana/Muhammad Shohibul Fikri, and Pramudya Kusumawardana/Yeremia Erich Yoche Yacob Rambitan.

Then for the women's doubles, not a single Indonesian representative appeared. The Red and White mixed doubles have Dejan Ferdinansyah/Gloria Emanuelle Widjaja and Praveen Jordan/Melati Daeva Oktavianti.
