20 Years Of Career, Finally Cecs Fabregas Hangs Up His Shoes

JAKARTA - Former Barcelona midfielder and Chelsea Cesc Fabregas have confirmed that they have hung up their boots as professional footballers at the age of 36. What will he do next?

Fabregas revealed that he ended 20 years of his career as a player through a statement on his Twitter account.

"It's very sad that the time has come for me to hang up my boots," Fabregas said on Saturday, July 1.

Cesc Fabregas started his career while defending the Barcelona academy team before moving to Arsenal and making his senior debut in 2003. His name became known to the Gunners and was even appointed captain in 2008, but he failed to win the main trophy for eight seasons at the London club.

He then returned to Barcelona in 2011, one year after winning the World Cup with the Spanish national team. Together with Barcelona, he won six trophies including LaLiga, the Copa del Rey and the Club World Cup.

Fabregas then moved to Chelsea in 2014 and had a quite successful career there by winning four titles, including two English Premier League trophies.

He also spent three seasons with Monaco (2019-2022) and the latter at Serie B Como club for one year before retiring.

"From my first day at Barca, Arsenal, Barca again, Chelsea, Monaco and Como, I will respect them all."

Meanwhile at international level, Fabregas has won everything. He is included in the 'gold generation' of the Spanish national team which has won the World Cup (2010) and two European Cup titles (2008 and 2012).

"From lifting the World Cup, the Euros to winning everything in England and Spain as well as almost all European trophies, this is a journey I will never forget," continued as reported by Antara.

In that statement, Cesc Fabregas also revealed the next steps he took after retiring. He is now taking a coaching position for Team B Como and excited to start his career as a coach.

"This charming football team won my heart from the first minute and came to me at the right time in my career. I would welcome him with both hands," said Cesc Fabregas.
