The Daddies Face The Qualification Of The Paris Olympics Relaxly, Ahsan: Yes Enjoy Only

JAKARTA - National men's doubles Hendra Setiawan/Mohammad Ahsan responded casually to the qualification for the 2024 Paris Olympics which will start on May 1, 2023 so that it does not become a burden in appearances at every tournament that will be played.

According to the couple nicknamed The Daddies, they will only undergo a qualifying period as best they can and do not expect more to have to qualify for Paris representing Indonesian badminton.

"Yes, just enjoy it, just live it. Thank God, if you don't come in, it doesn't matter. Still grateful whatever the results will be. We'll see later," Ahsan told Antara, Tuesday.

In addition, The Daddies also admitted that they did not set certain targets in the 2023 competition season. The world number 3 men's doubles just want to focus on enjoying every game.

"The important thing is to be able to enjoy every game, so we don't have to set a target to win or anything. We will just go through it," said Ahsan.

Even though he is over 30 years old, The Daddies' performance is still relatively consistent thanks to his experience and mastery of mature gaming techniques.

Even during the 2022 competition season, The Daddies have enjoyed the runner-up podium in five tournaments, namely the India Open (Super 500), All England (Super 1000), Malaysia Masters (Super 500), World Championships in Tokyo, and World Tour Finals.

Although he did not win a single title, Hendra/Ahsan are quite grateful for the achievement in 2022 because they can still compete well against the world's younger men's doubles.

"We are just playing relaxed, because we don't want to be too grandiose and the most important thing is that we already have a responsibility so that next year we can also play with fun so that the results are good," said Ahsan.
