Max Verstappen Is Expected To Be The Key To The Formula 1 Champion In Japan

JAKARTA - Red Bull Racing racer Max Verstappen is expected to lock up his Formula 1 world title at the Grand Prix (GP) Japan, next Sunday after finishing only seventh in Singapore or six points.

Max Verstappen is solid at the top of the standings with 341 points or a difference of 104 points with Ferrari's Charles Leclerc in second place and a difference of 106 with team-mate Sergio Perez.

The result of the Red Bull Racing duo at the Singapore GP received full attention from one of the team's supporters, the Lubricants MobilTM represented by the Market Development Director of PT ExxonMobil Lubricants Indonesia (PT EMLI) Sri Adinegara.

"Max Verstappen has tried to show his performance. This is a delayed victory. Of course he will focus more on facing the race in Japan and the 2022 Formula 1 World Champion there," Sri Adinegara said, quoted by Antara, Tuesday.

In the race in Singapore, Max Verstappen started the race in eighth position. This position is clearly unfavorable, especially since the race took place at the highway circuit. And it was proven that he only finished sixth.

His teammate Sergio Perez was able to be the best in the night highway race followed by two Ferrari drivers Charles Leclerc in second place and Carlos Sainz in third place.

This Dutch racer admitted that he had to go through the race difficult because there were many obstacles that he faced so that he lost a lot of position. But he kept trying so hard that he could get points.

"At least it's good to get a few points but that's not our goal here (GP Singapore). It's time to focus on Japan," said Max Verstappen in the team statement.

With an additional six points from the Singapore GP, Max Verstappen only needed victory at the Japanese GP to become world champion in consecutive land jet racing events.

If that happens, Max Verstappen will be the third rider after Michael Schumacher (2001 and 2004) and Sebastian Vettel (2011) who can win the title during the season still have four races left.
