JAKARTA - The young striker of the Bandung Liga 2 club, Muhammad Akrom, admitted that he was nervous when he started joining the Indonesian U-19 National Team squad in the training camp (TC) for the 2023 U-20 Asian Cup Qualification.

"Initially, I was nervous because this was the first time for me. However, I immediately adjusted. I was able to adapt to my friends for a long time. Thank God everything went smoothly," said Akrom as quoted by Antara, Wednesday.

Akrom is one of the debutants in the current U-19 national team. As soon as he arrived at the "Garuda Nusantara" squad, the 19-year-old footballer admitted that there were several things that surprised him.

One of them is a heavy training pattern with high intensity. He did not get something like that at the club.

"The training is very different from being at the club. At the club, the intensity is high but sometimes it's a bit relaxed. In the national team, the intensity continues to be high. So I have to be strong and focused during training," said the player who was raised by the Persebaya academy.

Muhammad Akrom also promised to give his best during training with the U-19 national team so that they are elected into the squad that competes in the 2023 U-20 Asian Cup Qualifiers.

TC preparatory for the 2023 U-20 Asian Cup Qualification is scheduled to take place until September 6, 2022 in Jakarta.

A total of 36 players were called up by coach Shin Tae-yong to participate in the activity.

The U-20 2023 Asian Cup Qualification will be held on September 14-18 2022. In that competition, Indonesia is in Group F with Timor Leste, Hong Kong and Vietnam. All Group F matches will be held at the Gelora Bung Tomo Stadium, Surabaya.
