JAKARTA - Arsenal legend Thierry Henry has officially become part of Serie B Como's club. He became a shareholder of a club owned by an Indonesian company, the Djarum Group.

Henry was announced as a minority stakeholder on Monday, August 29, local time. "I have been waiting to get involved in projects like Como for a long time," Henry said, upon arrival in Italy.

"The club is ambitious, but most importantly, it holds the same value as mine that clubs and their local community both need to develop," continued the former Juventus and Barcelona player.

He added, "For me, a football club is nothing without its local community. But you see a lot of commercial goals have overtaken and cut off that particular relationship and the club's heart is missing."

"When I talk to the team here and they tell me about the existing community initiatives and the ambition to ensure that the club prospers, as well as the community, I know this is the perfect opportunity for me," he said again.

Group Djarum bought Como four years ago after the previous owner went bankrupt, The Sun reported.

In a bid to help promoted clubs in Serie A by 2025, officials brought former Chelsea midfielder Dennis Wise, chief executive.

Como's ambitious nature was able to attract interest from all over Europe. Spanish midfielder Cesc Fabregas joined on a free transfer from AS Monaco earlier this month.

Como has also signed a Wolverhampton Wanderes Patrick Cutrone this summer.
