JAKARTA - Manchester City confirmed the signing of Sergio Gomez from Anderlecht. This player was brought in to add options in the left wing-back sector.

City announced the arrival of the Spain international on their official website on Tuesday, August 16 at night. Gomez was brought in for 11 million pounds (approximately Rp195 billion).

"Manchester City is delighted to announce the signing of Sergio Gomez on a four-year contract," The Citizen wrote in their announcement.

The 21 - year - old has been a target for City throughout this summer 's transfer window . Pep Guardiola's club were attracted by his action making 49 appearances for the Belgian club throughout the 2021/2022 season. Gomez started his career as part of the Barcelona academy team. He then left the Catalan club to join Borussia Dortmund in early 2018.

However, he instead spent two seasons in Spain on loan to Huesca.

He contributed to helping Huesca gain promotion to La Liga at the end of the 2019/2020 campaign before moving to Anderlecht in the summer of 2021.

"I am very proud and happy to have joined Manchester City. This is the best team in England and with Pep Guardiola I have the opportunity to learn and develop," said Gomez.

City signed Gomez after they failed to sign Marc Cucurella from Brighton, Rayan Ait-Nouri from Wovles and Raphael Guerreiro from Borussia Dortmund.

The Citizens do not have much choice on the left side of defense following the move of Oleksandr Zinchenko to Arsenal.

The Ukrainian's departure leaves only Joao Cancelo and youngster Josh Wilson-Esbrand yet to make their Premier League debut.
