Qualify For The Singapore Open 2022 Final, Apriyani: We Want Every Match To Have Continuous Achievements

JAKARTA - Women's doubles Apriyani Rahayu / Siti Fadia Silva Ramadhanti came out of tight pressure in the semifinals of the badminton Singapore Open 2022, Saturday armed with motivation to win.

In the match against Supissara Paewsampran/Puttita Supajirakul, Apri/Fadia had fallen behind in the first game, but finally sealed the victory 19-21, 21-13, 21-19 after struggling for 65 minutes.

"We want every match to have continuous achievements. There is no secret to this victory, because every athlete wants to excel in every match," Apri said as quoted by Antara.

Apri/Fadia were involved in a fierce feud in the opening game, it was even seen that the Indonesian pair were so determined to steal the lead first. Unfortunately, Apri/Fadia's performance was still immature, so many missed in the first game.

In the second game, the Thai women's doubles played more loosely and allowed Apri/Fadia to take the lead. From here, Supissara/Puttita wanted to extend their breath to be better prepared to play the decisive game.

Apri/Fadia easily gain points with an advantage that is not overtaken by Thailand. Indonesia also secured one game point to continue playing in the third game.

In the third game, Supissara/Puttita played more aggressively to suppress Apri/Fadia since the beginning of the game. A tight attack left Apri/Fadia behind 1-4, 7-11, and 11-14.

However, Apri/Fadia changed the pattern by being more patient, and taking advantage of the emptiness of the opponent's area to shoot or cross back.

Thanks to their patience, Apri/Fadia gained four points in a row to be 15-14 ahead. This advantage is closely guarded until the game is over.

"At the last Malaysia Masters, we did win easily, the difference is that they certainly have also analyzed the video. Then maybe they already know how our game is," said Apri about the reunion with Supissara / Puttita in one week.

Thanks to the victory in today's semifinal, Apri/Fadia doubled the score of the meeting with the 131st-ranked pair from Thailand by 2-0.

Next in Sunday's final, April/Fadia will meet China's Zhang Shu Xian/Zheng Yu women's doubles. The April/Fadia meeting with Zhang/Zheng will be a repeat of the top match of the Malaysia Open, with the Indonesian pair winning the BWF Super 750 title.
