JAKARTA - Surabaya Mayor Eri Cahyadi left for Jember Regency on Sunday, July 3. to visit free-combat athlete Yulia Hardianti Putri, who suffered a shoulder injury while appearing to represent Surabaya in the VII 2022 East Java Provincial Sports Week (Porprov Jatim).

"Alhamdulillah, when everything was checked, Yulia, the Surabaya athlete's condition, had returned to normal, there were no fractures," said Eri.

Yulia, who is playing in the women's 45 kilogram class, suffered an injury after being hit by her opponent in a match and was immediately referred to the Bina Sehat Hospital on Saturday, July 2.

After undergoing medical treatment for almost two days, the doctor stated that Yulia's condition had improved.

"I thank the Jember Regency Government and Bina Sehat Hospital for providing extraordinary services to athletes from Surabaya," said Eri.

Mayor Eri explained that after consulting the orthopedic doctor at Bina Sehat Hospital, it was confirmed that Yulia would be able to return home the next day. Even though Yulia's condition was injured, Eri still gave her encouragement, because she had already fought for the city of Surabaya.

"Whoever competes in Porprov is an athlete who will later bring Indonesia's big name. I am sure that with the strength of this togetherness, extraordinary athletes from East Java will emerge," he said.

The mayor, who is familiarly called Cak Eri, said that the Surabaya City Government's attention to athletes from Surabaya was not just about supporting and watching the Porprov matches. However, it also provides preparation and training before the race starts.

"Before the match, all the heads of regional apparatus (PD) take turns to pay attention and provide facilities for each sport that competes here. God willing, in 2023 I hope to be more fierce against Surabaya athletes, especially later the match will be in Sidoarjo and Mojokerto," he said.

Finally, he advised the citizens of Surabaya not to forget to support the athletes from the city of Surabaya to become the best overall champion in East Java.
