Challenge Haney To A Duel Again According To The Clause, Kambosos: End Of November, Let's Fight!

JAKARTA - George Kambosos Jr. is challenging Devin Haney for a rematch for the four major WBA Super, IBF, WBC and WBO lightweight titles in November or according to the previous clause.

"End of November, we can do it again. Let's give the fans a great fight. Let's fight!" said Kambosos as reported by Antara from Bad Left Hook, Monday.

Kambosos lost by unanimous points to Haney who officially became the true world champion in the 61.2 kg class at Marvel Stadium, Docklands, Melbourne, Australia, last Sunday.

At the press conference after the match, Kambosos praised the opponent's performance and said he would bounce back in the rematch later.

"I think I put him in pain a few times. But this is the result. He was agile and won points. He did his job well. Now, he is the champion of what the jury said, and we will do it again," said Kambosos.

On this occasion, the boxer from Australia also said that he had learned an important lesson in the match.

"This is not the end for me. We will rematch. I will continue to do my best and I am very proud to have brought a big fight here and proud to bring another big fight at the end of the year," he said.

In the previous match, Kambosos bet on three championship titles namely WBA Super, IBF, and WBO which were won after defeating Teofimo Lopez at Madison Square Garden Theater, New York, 27 November 2021.

But in the unification match of four titles, yesterday, he lost points to Haney.

The three judges on duty agreed to give Haney the victory. Jury Zoltan Enyedi gave it 116-112, Pawel Kardyni with 118-110, and Benoit Roussel gave it 116-112.

In addition to losing the title, the defeat also damaged Kambosos' unbeaten record in the previous 20 matches.

Meanwhile for Haney, the victory made him crowned a true world champion after the title was held by Pernell Whitaker in the 90s, while extending his unbeaten streak in 28 matches throughout his professional career.
