Indonesian U-23 National Team Wins Bronze At The 2021 SEA Games Hanoi, Shin Tae-yong: There's A Smell Of Luck

JAKARTA - The coach of the Indonesian national team, Shin Tae-yong, gave his appreciation to the players who have fought in the 2021 SEA Games in Hanoi. According to him, the hard struggle of Witan Sulaeman and his friends was an extraordinary thing.

The Indonesian U-23 national team won a bronze medal after defeating Malaysia at the My Dinh National Stadium, on Sunday, May 22. Garuda Muda had to go through a penalty shootout after normal time and only drew 1-1.

This victory was earned with difficulty. In that match, the Indonesian national team had to appear with limited players who were ready to compete.

The South Korean coach said he only had 14 players available for the final training session ahead of the match.

"As you can see, the match this time was very difficult, but we were still able to win even though it smelled of luck and the win was on penalties. Thank you to the players who worked hard until the end", said Shin Tae-yong, on the PSSI official website.

"Honestly, in the last training, only 14 players participated. This is the first time I have faced this situation when I was running a decisive match", he continued.

Previously, the Head of PSSI, Mochamad Iriawan, also appreciated the struggle of the Red and White Team. He was relieved that Shin Tae-yong's troops had achieved the best results.
