A Month Since Being Charged With Attempted Murder, Former UFC Fighter Cain Velasquez: Your Words Give Me Strength

JAKARTA - The answer finally came from former UFC star Cain Velasquez after he was charged with attempted murder on March 2. At that time, he was part of the incident related to the shooting.

The former two-time UFC heavyweight champion has been charged with attempted murder and multiple counts of assault with a gun in connection with the February 28 shooting in San Jose, California.

Velasquez is accused of targeting Harry Eugene Goularte, who in turn faces charges of sexually assaulting one of Velasquez's young relatives.

If found guilty, Velasquez, who has been held without bail since February 28, could face up to 20 years in prison for the 10 crimes he faced, according to court documents cited by Marca, Wednesday, April 13.

After more than a month since his indictment, Velasquez decided to thank everyone who has supported him amid a terrible moment in his life.

Through messages on social media, Velasquez reassured that "this story is complicated and slowly unraveling as we speak," and thanked him for all the love he has received in recent weeks.

"To everyone who has expressed their support, my family and I will never be able to thank you enough. From the bottom of our hearts and souls, we are forever grateful for your love," Velazquez wrote on Instagram.

"Your selfless gestures and fiery words have given me strength in my darkest moments. The story is complex and slowly unravels as we speak," the caption continued.

"To the true victims of this case, may God give you the strength to move on. Although it is most difficult to relive the pain that has been done to you, in speaking the truth, justice will be served and your own true healing will begin.

"I will never stop helping or loving my community and all of you. Thank you for loving me," wrote the former UFC star.
