Korea Open 2022: Jonathan Christie And Ahsan/Hendra Qualify For Round Of 16

JAKARTA - The second round of the 2022 Korea Open will take place on Wednesday, April 6 at the Palma Indoor Stadium. From this round, two representatives of Indonesia, Jonatan Christie and Mohammad Ahsan/Hendra Setiawan, successfully ensured themselves to qualify for the round of 16.

Jonathan Christie, who took part in the men's singles sector, advanced smoothly to the round of 16 after overthrowing the representative of Malaysia, Soong Joo Ven. In the meeting in the second half, Jojo won with a final score of 21-13 and 21-18 in a match for 39 minutes.

Jonatan Christie's appearance in the early games went well because he immediately bought 4-0 points in the early minutes. Despite being chased by opponents, Jojo showed his consistency by winning 11-5 at the first interval and continuing with a 21-13 victory in the first game.

When continuing the fight in the second game, the situation is quite different. This time Soong immediately put up resistance to Jonathan with a considerable difference in points, but Jonathan managed to catch up with an 11-6 advantage in the second interval.

After the break, Soong got four consecutive points which then made Jonathan wary, the score was 12-17. When he needed three more points to close the second game, Jonathan actually made a mistake that made Soong win three points in a row to get closer with a score of 15-18.

Soong's straight kiss again made Jojo's win delayed after the score changed to 16-19. However, Jonathan finally won the second game with a score of 21-18.

Before Jonatan Christie confirmed a place in the round of 16 for the men's singles sector, the senior mixed doubles Ahsan / Hendra made this positive achievement first.

Ahsan/Hendra secured a ticket from the second round after overthrowing the host's representative, Chan Choo/Jin Choo. In the meeting at the Palma Indoor Stadium, Ahsan/Hendra won 21-16, 21-15 within 32 minutes.

Apart from Jonatan Christie and Ahsan/Hendra, Indonesia's opportunity to send representatives in the round of 16 is still wide open. Because there are still Shesar Hiren, Bagas/Fikri, Pram/Yeremia, Leo/Daniel, and Fajar/Rian who were previously confirmed to qualify for the second round.
