JAKARTA – Lewis Hamilton did not appear in the photo of the solidarity action of Formula 1 (F1) drivers for Ukraine, some time ago. The cause is really unexpected

The photo of the F1 driver as a form of support for Ukraine was widely circulated on social media. The photo shows the F1 wearing clothes with the words 'No War' written on them.

They posed in the middle of the race track with similarly written posters and the Ukrainian flag placed on the asphalt of the circuit.

Of the 19 currently active drivers, only Hamilton is not in the photo. The absence of the seven-time world champion immediately raised many questions.

In order not to cause speculation and to stop the curiosity of many people, Hamilton also answered Instagram Story.

"Glad to see our sport unite in this way. Sorry I couldn't attend. My flight was delayed. #racingunited #standwithukraine", wrote the 37-year-old driver, quoted by the Mirror.

Shortly after explaining, Hamilton shared his next upload. In that post, he asked his 27 million followers to get involved in fundraising for Ukraine initiated by the Disasters Emergency Committee (DEC).

The DEC is an umbrella group of British charities that coordinates fundraising to provide emergency assistance to people caught up in disasters and humanitarian crises around the world. This body was formed in 1963.

"I support the efforts of the @disastersemergencycommittee. If you want to contribute here is more info. They use the funds to provide food and water, first aid, shelter, and hygiene advice for those who need it most", he continued.

Apart from Lewis Hamilton, another driver who was not present was Nikita Mazepin. This is because the Russian racer has been fired by his team, Haas.

The schedule for the 2022 Formula 1 (F1) racing season will be held from 20 March in Bahrain. A total of 23 series will be held until 13 November 2022 at the Brazilian Grand Prix.
