Chelsea Owner's Daughter Joins In Writing Anti-President Vladimir Putin's Message On Instagram

JAKARTA – Sofia Abramovich, daughter of Chelsea owner Roman Abramovich, has also voiced the anti-President Vladimir Putin's message. She wrote on Instagram that the president's attitude did not represent Russia at all.

The message was written by Sofia on Instagram Stories on Friday, February 25 local time.

In the message, the word "Russia" was crossed out and replaced with the word "Putin". That makes Sofia's sentence read as "Putin wants war with Ukraine".

"The biggest and most successful lie of Kremlin propaganda is that most Russians support Putin," Sofia added.

Sofia tagged the post to the anti-war Instagram page 'Russia.Reality'.

Sofia's father is known to have a close relationship with Putin. That leaves the Chelsea owner with frequent questions over his historic deal with the Russian president, a question he vehemently denies.

On Thursday, British Labor MP Chris Bryant criticized the 55-year-old's legitimacy as the owner of a Premier League club. The criticism comes after Abramovich used parliamentary privilege to name him in a leaked Home Office report.

Bryant detailed “a document leaked from 2019 from the Home Office that says it relates to Abramovich – 'As part of HMG's Russia strategy aimed at targeting illicit finance and illicit activity, Abramovich remains of interest to HMG because of its ties to the Russian state and its public associations with activities and corrupt practices'.”

British Prime Minister Boris Johnson has sanctioned Russia and many other individuals in response to the invasion. Although it is not known whether Abramovich was among them or not.

The sporting world was broadly united and condemned Russia's attack on Ukraine. This includes European football's parent giants (UEFA) and Formula One (F1) which canceled their upcoming major events in Russia.

UEFA moved the Champions League final which was supposed to take place in St. Petersburg in May to the Stade de France, France. Meanwhile, F1 said in a statement that it was impossible for them to race in Russia under the current circumstances.
