Set A High Target, Guardiola Is Not Satisfied City Slaughters Sporting Five Goals Without Reply

JAKARTA - The first leg of the last 16 of the Champions League was successfully secured by Manchester City after beating Sporting Lisbon with a landslide score of 5-0. However, Josep Guardiola is still not satisfied with the result.

In a match that was held at the Jose Alvalade Stadium on Wednesday, February 16 in the morning WIB, The Citizens' opening goal was made by Riyad Mahrez when the game had only been running for seven minutes. After that, Bernardo Silva scored a brace, followed by goals from Phil Folden and Raheem Sterling.

With a score of five goals, Guardiola should be happy with his team's performance. However, something else was revealed by the coach. He said that his team's performance was not perfect because players often lost moments.

"Not (not a perfect performance). Some of the players were bad and we lost the ball easily, but we were very clinical", Guardiola was quoted as saying by TeamTalk.

Guardiola also said that although Sporting had to suffer a crushing defeat, in the end, they had shown a good game at the start of the match.

"We saw in the first five or six minutes how good they (Sporting) are. The difference between the two teams is not 5-0 but we are very clinical. We punished them", he explained.

Furthermore, Guardiola said the match against Sporting was very interesting. Because Ruben Amorim's team is one of the clubs to be reckoned with in Portugal. Moreover, their players also have good physicality on the field.

“This is a fantastic team. They are the Portuguese champions. They have amazing runners. They have a good team", he said.

With a big win against Sporting in the first leg of the Champions League last 16, one leg for City has been confirmed to step into the advanced round. Guardiola said he was happy with his team's performance.

"But I'm very happy because we made a big step towards the next round."
