Overshadowed By Diplopia, Marquez Must Be Extra Careful After Undergoing The Pre-season Test At Sepang

JAKARTA - Repsol Honda racer Marc Marquez has completed the 2022 MotoGP pre-season test which was held at the Sepang Circuit, Malaysia on Saturday and Sunday.

After undergoing the pre-season test, there was a feeling of fear that overshadowed the rider. Marquez is worried that the diplopia or double vision he experienced could reappear.

That's what then makes Marquez have to be extra careful in undergoing the race in the 2022 MotoGP which starts at the Losail Circuit, Qatar on March 6. Moreover, Marquez also revealed that in the next two years there is still the possibility of diplopia appearing again.

“That (diplopia) was the first thing I asked the doctor about. If you have an accident in Malaysia, is there a possibility of a similar problem (diplopia) occurring? The probability will be the same for the next two years," said Marquez quoted from The Race.

While undergoing a test session in Sepang, Marquez had a few incidents on the first day. However, the 28-year-old was lucky because diplopia did not reappear.

This injury is not the first time Marquez has experienced this, because 10 years ago when he was still competing in the Moto2 junior category he also experienced diplopia. However, in 2021 Marquez was forced to give up the last two MotoGP series because this injury happened to him again.

Marquez assesses that physically, he is still strong, especially his bones. However, this is not the case with her nervous system which is very fragile and allows her to suffer from diplopia again.

"The fear is still there. If I have an accident in the next two seasons, I may have strong bones. But if the nerves are affected, the damage will be felt," he said.
