Satpol PP And Ormas Clash In Bogor, Police Arrest 5 Alleged Provocateurs

Joint officers and mass organizations in Bogor clashed during the demolition of a illegal building in Ciawi, Bogor, Tuesday, November 21.

Bogor Police arrested and questioned five people suspected of being the masterminds in the chaos between the Bogor Regency Satpol PP and community organizations (ormas) in Ciawi District, Bogor Regency. The riot occurred during the demolition of the illegal building, which resulted in the injuries of members of the Satpol PP and Bogor Police.

Bogor Police Chief AKBP Rio Wahyu Anggoro said the riot occurred when one of the mass organizations threw stones for the first time, to Satpol PP officers and a combination of the TNI-Polri. As a result, the members suffered head injuries and had to be sewn up.

"The five people in charge are temporarily arrested, provocateurs. However, we will investigate the examination later, we will determine the legal status later," said Rio, Wednesday, November 22.

Rio said the police would investigate the articles that would be determined to the mastermind of this riot. In addition, the Satpol PP is also still collecting data on whether any other members were injured.

"We'll see (what the article is), what the role will be. That's right (the mass organization is still under investigation)," he said.

Previously, it was reported that the Bogor Regency Satpol PP had dismantled dozens of buildings without permits on government-owned land around Ciawi District, Bogor Regency. This demolition resulted in chaos, causing members of the Bogor Regency Satpol PP and Bogor Resort Police to suffer injuries and have to get stitches.

Ciawi Police Chief Kompol Agus Hidayat said the riot started when the Satpol PP, which was about to dismantle a wild building under the Bogor-Ciawi-Sukabumi (Bocomi) Toll Bridge KM 47 A, had an argument with the local community organization (ormas). The incident occurred on Tuesday.

"So there was one of the mass organizations that backed up so as not to be dismantled. Initially, there was a complaint because the Satpol PP still wanted to dismantle it, then was thrown (rock) by the mass organization," said Agus.

Agus said that a total of two people were injured in this incident. One victim is a member of the Bogor Police Community Control, and the other is a member of the Bogor Regency Satpol PP.

"From the mass organization it has been brought to the Bogor Police. We brought it to the Resort Police to be held accountable for why he prevented (the demolition process)," said Agus.
