Ganjar Gives A Score Of 5 Law Enforcement In The Jokowi Era, Mahfud: That's After The Constitutional Court's Decision

JAKARTA - Candidate for vice president number 3 Mahfud MD explained the intention of the presidential candidate pair, Ganjar Pranowo, who gave a 5 score to law enforcement in the era of President Joko Widodo.

According to Mahfud, this score was given after the polemic of the Constitutional Court (MK) decision regarding the age limit of the presidential and vice presidential candidates. This decision resulted in Anwar Usman being dismissed from the position of Chief Justice of the Constitutional Court for violating the code of ethics.

"Yes, the scale of 5 per 10 (law enforcement) is after the decision of the Constitutional Court, right," Mahfud said when met at Taman Ismail Marzuki, Central Jakarta, Sunday, November 19.

Moreover, Mahfud, who also serves as Coordinator for Political, Legal and Security Affairs (Menkopolhukam), claims that the performance of law enforcement in general under his coordination is quite good.

"If you want to be objective, you will see the results of the latest Kompas survey. Law enforcement is the highest 64 percent throughout Pak Jokowi's administration. The political and security sector is 76 percent, the highest throughout Pak Jokowi's administration. And that's my Coordinating Minister for Political, Legal and Security Affairs," said Mahfud.

Previously, Ganjar considered that law enforcement and democracy during the Jokowi administration had decreased. This is in the aftermath of the polemic decision of the Constitutional Court (MK) regarding the age limit for presidential and vice presidential candidates.

"Yes, with this case (MK), it dropped. (The value) is) 5," said Ganjar at the Makassar State University Alumni Family Association National Sarasehan event (UNM), Saturday, November 18.

Ganjar explained the data showing that the current perception of law enforcement is only 30.7 percent. According to him, there needs to be improvements that must be made, namely the rule of law to protect all citizens.

"Meanwhile, the legal and human rights index in 2017-2022 has a score of 6.2. So what must be done is to strengthen human rights institutions, strengthen human rights education in the public," he continued.

This was criticized by the Secretary of the Prabowo-Gibran National Campaign Team (TKN) Nusron Wahid. In fact, Nusron asked Ganjar to ask his vice presidential candidate, Mahfud MD, for a low assessment of the current aspect of law enforcement.

"Mas Ganjar should convey that to Mr. Mahfud MD. The Coordinating Minister for Political, Legal and Security Affairs is the most responsible in law enforcement, Mr. Mahfud MD, Mas Ganjar should ask Mr. Mahfud MD," said Nusron when met in the Gelora Bung Karno area, Sunday, November 19.
