JAKARTA - Vice President (Wapres) Ma'ruf Amin believes that the fatwa of the Indonesian Ulema Council (MUI) regarding products or companies that are pro-Israeli aggression is necessary to support Palestinian independence.

"Regarding the fatwa, I think it is necessary in order to support Palestinian independence and in order to stop Israeli barbarism in Gaza," said the Vice President during a working visit in Bandung, West Java, Thursday, November 16.

On Friday, November 10, the MUI issued a fatwa. Purchasing products from manufacturers that clearly support Israeli aggression against Palestine is haram.

This fatwa is a form of commitment to support the Palestinian people's struggle for independence and also resistance to Israeli aggression and efforts to exterminate humanity.

The Vice President said that what the Israeli military was doing in Gaza was considered genocide or mass murder. So there must be efforts made by all parties in their respective capacities to stop Israel's barbarism, including by the MUI by issuing a fatwa.

“MUI apart from providing assistance, large meetings, fatwas. "It's just that the government or certain parties will also have to select (products/companies that support Israeli aggression), because the MUI doesn't say what companies they are," said the Vice President.

According to him, there must be a party that selects which companies are affiliated with supporting Israeli aggression in Gaza, so as not to harm many parties.

"Because if you don't, it will go nowhere, so that it doesn't harm many parties. "Therefore, there will be parties who will provide a kind of (selection) that this is included and this is not included," he said.
