BENGKULU - Health Office (Dinkes) of Mukomuko Regency, has not yet destroyed drugs that have expired because they are waiting for equipment and operational permits for incinerators from the Ministry of Health (Kemenkes). "Currently, expired medicines have accumulated and we have not been able to destroy this year because we are waiting for equipment and permits," said Head of the Mukomuko District Health Office Bustam Bustomo in Mukomuko, Bengkulu, Wednesday, November 15, quoted by Antara. He said, the Mukomuko Health Office has not been able to carry out the destruction of expired drugs until now. He added that the agency had previously applied for an operating permit file for the incinerator to carry out the destruction to the Indonesian Ministry of Health, but it has not been realized. "The destruction of the drug must be carried out using a special device of incinerator and should not be carried out manually, and the permit to use the drug destruction tool must have permission from the central government," he said. He said, that expired medicines including medical waste in this service came from as many as 17 health centers spread across this area.

According to him, the existence of these medicines and medical waste is dangerous if they are not destroyed immediately. It is feared that the existence of these drugs and medical waste can pollute the surrounding environment. Meanwhile, he said, the expired medicines in this office consisted of various types of drugs in the form of tablets, plasters, and concoctions. of the many drugs, he said, the majority of these expired drugs were in the form of tablets, and all these drugs were in the form of tablets, and all of them were routine needs of health centers to treat their patients. He said, the procurement of medicines was purchased using a budget sourced from the Regional Revenue and Expenditure Budget (APBD) since the last few years.
