JAKARTA - The Indonesian National Amil Zakat Agency (Baznas) in collaboration with the Indonesian Navy sent 50 tons of Palestinian humanitarian assistance by ship.

"The assistance that we will entrust through the Indonesian Navy ship to be sent to Palestine is more than 50 tons. So if allowed, we will follow the addition. But for the time being 50 tons," said Chairman of the Indonesian National Baznas Noor Achmad as quoted by ANTARA, Tuesday, November 14.

He said humanitarian assistance to Palestine weighing 50 tons was assistance from all Indonesian people, including 50 trucks from the Indonesian Army.

"Baznas will distribute aid from various parties to Palestine, including from the Indonesian Army yesterday as many as 50 trucks that have now been prepared," he said.

He said aid deliveries would not stop at 50 tonnes, but would continue to deliver aid through further stages.

"Until today, we are still receiving the distribution of aid from the Indonesian people who really care about the brothers and sisters in Palestine," he said.

He detailed that the 50 tons of humanitarian assistance collected for less than 10 days were in the form of blankets, clothes, staples, and food focused on women and children.

"Because we face winter in Palestine, we send aid in the form of blankets and clothes, including baby and children's clothes. We will continue to send aid, it doesn't just stop here," he said.

Head of the Indonesian Navy Maritime Potential Service (Kadispotmaral) Brigadier General TNI (Mar) Gatot Mardiyono expressed his gratitude to Baznas for entrusting deliveries via Indonesian Navy ships.

"I represent the Chief of Staff of the Indonesian Navy (KSAL) express my gratitude and are honored for the cooperation and assistance provided by Baznas through the Indonesian Navy," he said.

Acceptance and delivery of humanitarian aid to Palestine are still open until November 20, 2023. For people or agencies who wish to participate in this activity, there is still a week remaining.

"We have opened shipments until November 20. This is because of the high empathy of the Indonesian people for helping Palestine. Alhamdulillah, today we have collected winter equipment, medicines and food from Baznas which is very useful for our brothers and sisters in Palestine," he said.
